Early Bird Registration for the 36th Annual APPE International Conference, to be held March 4-7, 2027 in Pittsburgh, ends July 30. Reserve your spot before the fee increases!

We are also seeking proposal submissions for the conference. The deadline is Monday, October 5, 2026 and proposals should be submitted via Ex Ordo.

This year’s theme, Examining Ethics and Power, invites critical reflection on the ethical dimensions of power across professional, institutional, and global contexts. We encourage proposals that explore how power dynamics shape ethical decision‑making; how power manifests in professional practices; how institutions perpetuate or prevent harm; and how ethical frameworks can clarify what is at stake as well as expose, challenge, and transform unjust power relations.

Only a few spots remain for a virtual workshop called "Designing Your Ethics Course," which will be held Monday, Aug. 17 from 12 to 2 p.m. ET.

Whether you are planning curriculum for your first-time teaching ethics or looking for new ideas after decades of teaching, this online workshop is for you. Led by longtime APPE member Deni Elliott, who also serves as Project Co-Director for the National Ethics Project (NEP), the workshop will help you get clear on your goals for ethics education and help you accomplish them. Participants will leave the workshop with student learning objectives, activities to help students accomplish objectives, and assessment techniques that enable instructors to know what their students achieved. Regardless of discipline or venue, this 2-hour online workshop is appropriate for those who teach ethics currently or who intend to teach.
